The Friends of Mount Bethel Cemetery is made up of donors to the cemetery maintenance, both financial and those who volunteer their time to the upkeep of the grounds.

 We rely solely on The Friends to continue our work and maintain the cemetery. If you are already on our Friends list, please consider an increase in your contribution this year, and/or consider a “Leave A Legacy” bequest to the cemetery in your will so that we can meet the many challenges that lie ahead.

Successes

The support of our Friends has allowed the following and ongoing accomplishments at Mount Bethel Cemetery in recent years:

  • Existing roads re-surfaced
  • Construction of new shed
  • Major remodeling of the caretaker’s cottage
  • Helen Schlossman Memorial Garden for cremations
  • Benches placed throughout the cemetery
  • Ongoing monument conservation
  • Establishment of Friends of Mount Bethel Cemetery, a 501(c)(3) organization
  • Ongoing property maintenance, including removal and replacement of aged trees
  • Burial records since 1868 transferred to computer data base
  • Fence stabilized
  • Volunteers rake leaves and spray weeds every year
